Randall J. Holt

President and Chief Operating Officer


Randall “Randy” J. Holt serves as president and chief operating office for CPX Energy. He brings more than 34 years of experience to CPX in all facets of upstream operations, working with both major public companies and private independents. He is well known in the industry for the invaluable relationships he has built in the Delaware Basin and Wolfcamp region with highly experienced local drilling and completion consultants and contractors. 

Prior to CPX, Randy was Vice President of Operations at Petro Harvester Oil & Gas, LLC, a portfolio E&P company of TPG Capital. In this position, he directed all of the organization’s Gulf Coast operations, helping grow the value of the company’s asset base to more than $400 million and gross production of 6,500 boe/d in three years.

Previously, Randy was Engineering Manager for Citrus Energy Corporation where he led all efforts to drill, complete and produce the company’s acreage position in the Marcellus Shale. He was responsible for growing production to more than 100,000 Mcf/d with a value of $450 million. Before joining Citrus, Randy had held a number of key management positions at Denbury Resources, Inc., including development of Denbury’s CO2 production at Jackson Dome; Asset Manager over the company’s Barnett Shale development; and finally as Drilling Manager where he founded the company’s drilling department.

Randy’s career began at the upstream division of Sun Oil Company, which later became Oryx Energy. He obtained his B.S. in petroleum engineering from Texas Tech University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
