Thomas L. Powell, IV serves as CEO of CPX Energy. Prior to CPX Energy and CP Exploration III, Tom negotiated a farm-out and joint development agreement with ConocoPhillips and within just 2 years established a minimum of 146 horizontal drilling locations and an asset with a reserve value exceeding $1 billion. May 15, 2017 CP Exploration II, LLC sold certain assets to Resolute Energy (REN) for $160 million. Acquired 26,000 net acres (2007) in the North Dakota Williston Basin. Developed, participated, then sold production in 147 horizontal wells and leasehold to Linn Energy (LINE), Tracker Energy, Occidental Petroleum Corporation (OXY) and Black Ridge (OTCQB: ANFC) for an aggregate $162 million in exit proceeds. Sold 14,000 acres in the Permian Basin to WPX Energy for an undisclosed confidential price (CA). Established a 33,000 acre position in East Texas, then sold for an undisclosed confidential price. Owns various assets in Texas targeting the liquids-rich portions of the Eagle Ford Shale and the Permian Basin consisting of both working interest and royalty interest with EOG and Marathon.

Randy Holt, PE as President & COO – brings more than 34 years of experience to CPX in all facets of upstream operations, working with both major public companies and private independents. Most recently Randy has gained experience drilling horizontal Wolfcamp wells in the Delaware Basin while building invaluable relationships with highly experienced local drilling and completion consultants and contractors. A core value for CPX, in all Basins, is finding the best consultants before executing.
Prior to this recent Delaware work Randy was VP of Operations at Petro Harvester Oil & Gas, LLC, a portfolio E&P company of TPG Capital where he directed all of the company’s Gulf Coast operations, helping grow the value of the company’s asset base to more than $400 million and gross production of 6,500 boe/d in three years.
Prior to joining Petro Harvester, Randy was Engineering Manager for Citrus Energy Corporation where he led all efforts to drill, complete and produce the company’s acreage position in the Marcellus Shale starting with the first wells staked to production of more than 100,000 Mcf/d and value of $450 million. Before joining Citrus, Randy had held a number of key management positions at Denbury Resources, Inc., including development of Denbury’s CO2 production at Jackson Dome; Asset Manager over the company’s Barnett Shale development; and finally as Drilling Manager where he founded the company’s drilling department.
Randy’s career began at the upstream division of Sun Oil Company, which later became Oryx Energy. He obtained his B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.

Jay Thrash, PE -EVP Reserves and Planning. Jay has worked for more than 39 years in all phases of domestic and international onshore and offshore oil and gas exploration and production. Jay started his career at Kerr McGee where he worked in operational and technical roles throughout the US, the North Sea and Southeast Asia. While at Kerr McGee he held several leadership assignments before becoming Offshore Engineering Manager where he directed engineering related to the company’s Gulf of Mexico operations. In 1992, Jay joined Canadian Oxy (now Nexen Petroleum) where he ultimately became the company’s first Director of Deepwater Development. In this role, Jay recruited and managed the technical and project management team responsible for deepwater development, of multiple fields totaling over 215 million bbls in reserves. Jay also led all of the company’s evaluation efforts for all onshore, offshore and deepwater acquisitions and exploration. After retiring from Nexen, Jay spent more than 6 years as a consultant with Haas Petroleum Engineering Services, where he provided third party evaluations on properties throughout virtually every commercial unconventional play in North America. Since joining CPX, Jay has performed evaluations for all prospective deals and acquisitions that the Company has considered and developed an intimate knowledge of the southern Delaware Basin that led to the capture of over 100 million barrels of oil and 945 billion cubic feet of gas reserves in less than 2.5 years from inception. Jay earned his B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and his Master of Theology (ThM) from Dallas Theological Seminary. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas and an active member of both the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers.

Jeff Blass brings a proven track record of success in prospect generation, exploration and geologic development as the company’s EVP – Exploration & Strategy. In his role, Jeff relies on his 30 years of exploration and geophysics experience in conventional and unconventional resource plays across the nation, including the Gulf Coast, Mid Continent, and Ark-La-Tex regions, to identify, acquire and develop assets and opportunities aligned with CPX’s growth strategy. Jeff’s career began in the Tyler district office of TXO Production Corp, where he developed over 200 prospects in ten years. Subsequently he worked at Denbury Resources, where he was a part of the technical team that generated and developed the company’s assets to grow production more than 12x in less than four years. Most recently, Jeff was Senior Geologist at Petro Harvester Oil & Gas, LLC, where he was responsible for reserve adds of more than 5.5 million bbls in under-exploited conventional fields in the Mississippi Salt Basin. Dan Griffith, as CFO, brings a diverse and deep background in accounting, finance, tax and alternative investments. Dan is responsible for the creation and implementation of all financial and accounting processes as well as financial modeling and planning. Prior to CPX, Dan was a Tax Manager at a public accounting firm, Henry & Peters, PC, where he specialized in complex tax and accounting matters related to oil and gas partnerships. In this role, Dan was responsible for managing the finances of CPX’s predecessor entity. Before joining Henry & Peters, Dan worked as a tax and accounting specialist for a number of alternative investment firms, including Tolleson Wealth Management, Inc., and Maverick Capital, Ltd. Previously he was an associate at KPMG, LLP in Dallas. Dan earned his B.A. from Wheaton College and his Master in Public Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.

Bridget Powell, CPL as EVP & Director of Land, directs all leasing, land administration, and land due diligence efforts for CPX. Bridget joined CPX in June 2013 after spending more than 16 years with Thomas Development Corporation (TDC) a premier land services company, with multiple offices throughout the US. While at TDC, Bridget assumed a number of leadership roles before ultimately becoming Vice-President. She was responsible for the supervision and coordination of all title, abstracting, curative and due diligence projects in various regions for top tier operators such as WPX Energy, Anadarko, Devon Energy and Marathon Oil, culminating in acquisitions totaling over 300,000 acres. Bridget also directly led all efforts to acquire 14,000 acres in the Permian Basin on behalf of CPX's predecessor company, as well as the leasing of more than 20,000 acres in the Fort Worth Basin. Previously at TDC, Bridget was Barnett Shale Project Manager where she supervised more than 100 land brokers and administrative personnel in the leasing and title abstracting of all acreage for a major independent. Bridget obtained her B.A. and M.A from Louisiana State University.

William E. "Bill" Hough - EVP & Director of Business Development. Bill Hough has more than 39 years of experience with domestic and international exploration plays including project acquisition and development, maximizing production deliverability and economic viability. He has worked with numerous exploration and development companies putting acquisition and drilling opportunities together in every major producing basin in the United States. Prior to CPX, Bill was a Project Land Advisor Team Lead with Anadarko Petroleum Corporation.
Bill is a Certified Professional Landman and a graduate of the Price College of Business University of Oklahoma with a B.B.A. in Finance/Petroleum Land Management. He is a member of the AAPL, PBLA and HAPL having served on numerous HAPL committees including the board as a past officer of HAPL. Bill has an extensive oil and gas network to acquire producing properties, joint ventures and drilling opportunities for exploration, development and exploitation purposes.
Previously, Bill has served as Land Manager with Mansfield Capital Group managing their real estate and oil and gas operation activity. Bill started his career with Hunt Energy Corporation and has also worked in management and supervisory roles for numerous other E&P companies such as Amerada Hess, IP Petroleum, SCANA, Ocean Energy and Anadarko Petroleum.

Justin Bynum – VP Permian Operations. Justin has nearly 20 years of experience in various aspects of oil and gas drilling, completion and operations.
Justin has drilled or assisted in the completion of nearly 200 horizontal wells in the Delaware Basin in the Wolfcamp, Bone Spring and Avalon formations. Justin has been an Independent Consultant for much of his career, and has supervised drilling, completions and workovers on various projects in Texas for BP, Energen Resources, Forge Energy and others since 2003. Justin has worked the Permian Basin since 2008, and prior to becoming part of the team at CP Exploration, Justin was a Consultant and Field Superintendent for Energen Resources in the Delaware Basin, and was responsible for all production / completion operations and multiple workover rigs. As Operations Manager for CP Exploration, Justin is responsible for all field operations and assisted in the development of CPX’s completion and drillout program, and supervised the drilling and completion of several of CPX’s Wolfcamp horizontal wells.
Justin earned his BBA in Finance from Texas Tech University. He is H2S-FIT Tested and Wild Well Supervisor Level Well Control Certification.

Kagen Elenburg - Geology Manager. Kagen joined CPX in 2019. Prior to joining the CPX team, Kagen Elenburg served as COO for a production company operating vertical fields. Prior to his work with Gennesaret, Kagen was an exploration geologist and geologic operations supervisor for Silver Creek Oil & Gas for seven years. He helped Silver Creek acquire three grass roots prospects and geo-steered over 80 horizontal wells in three different basins. Before joining Silver Creek, Kagen was a completion consultant for Antero Resources. There he completed over 100 wells in the Marcellus and Woodford. Kagen started his career as a geologist and completions engineer for Swan Production, helping Swan both discover and be on the forefront of developing the Marble Falls play in Jack & Palo-Pinto Counties.

Clay Powell – VP and General Counsel. Clay is licensed attorney with the State Bar of Texas. Most recently Clay served as an Assistant District Attorney for Dallas County, Texas. From 2013 to 2015 clay worked with CP Exploration II, LLC as an oil and gas landman. Prior to his work for CPX II, Clay worked as an independent landman with Thomas Development Corporation, developing a natural gas position for an independent public company in the Marcellus Shale. Clay has a B. A. in Economics from Texas A&M University and a J.D. cum laude from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where he served as an editor of the law review.
